Ragdoll cat

Origin and development

The breed was established in 1960 in California (USA). He comes from a white-billed binocular Persian cat named Josephine, beaten by a Siamese cat named Reged. The pregnant Persian was hit by a car and was seriously injured, but she still managed to give birth. Her offspring noticed a unique quality.

The kittens were so relaxed, relaxed and passive that they literally hung in the hand like a rag doll – that’s why the breed was called as a gagdoll-rag doll. Kittens seemed to have lost any sense of fear and were insensitive to pain, making them extremely vulnerable. They were not able to fight and were easy prey for other animals hostile to them. Cats of this breed were able to lie down in the middle of the street.

Their body is not brittle, but they must be kept away from other animals or from children that can injure them. For the first time, representatives of the breed participated in a 1961 felenological exhibition in the United States. In the same year the breed was recognized by the FFA in the United States and later by the other international organizations.

Regard looks like a Burmese cat, but with a wider breast, a more massive back of the body, and a medium-length and thicker limb with large oval paws. The head is long, wedge-shaped, with a wide skull and distinct thick cheeks. The eyes are large, oval shaped, blue in color. The hair cover is soft and dense, structurally reminiscent of rabbit fur, and its density depends on the season.

According to the creators of the reggol breed, they do not need to be particularly frequent. Three types of fur coloring are known: 1. Crow Point – with scrapes; 2. Mitte – with white paws – “socks” and 3. Bicolor (two-colored). In each of these types, the coat of hair on the extremities of the body may be dark brown, chocolate, blue and purple.

Color options:

RAG 33 – Spin-tipped spindle (the color of the coat has the same shade of the entire length of the hair, the ears, the muzzle, the limbs and the tail being darker and contrasting with the background). Tikking and white spots are not allowed.
RAG 04 – Muddy-type raddo with white paws (“socks”) – the color of the coat has the same shade throughout the entire length of the hair; ears, muzzle, limbs and tail are darker and contrast to the background. “Socks” are symmetrical and well-defined.

RAG 03 – bicolor type regold (bi-color) – the color of the coat has the same shade along the entire length of the hair; the ears, the muzzle (except the white odors in it in the form of the inverted Latin letter V) and the tail are dark and contrasting; chest, abdomen and limbs are white.

RAG n – Regdol type silo-pointer with dark brown smokes – the color of the coat has a yellowish-brown hue and the lower part of the body – a pale crema; the defects are deep dark brown, such as the color of the seal skin, the nasal sponge and the pads of the paws are dark brown or black; eyes are bright blue.
RAG b – regold with chocolate smokes – the whole body color is ivory-like; the offspring are with HOT chocolate tuna; the nasal sponge is pink, and the paw pads are orange-pink; eyes are bright blue.

RAG a – regdol type beige POINT (with blue taps); the color of the whole body is the same – platinum or gray-blue; the blemishes are dark blue-gray; the nasal sponge and the pads are dark blue-gray and the eyes are bright blue.

RAG with – regdol with purple taps – “frosted”; the coloring of the whole body is milky white; the scratches are greyish-pink, “frowned”, the nasal sponge is purple, and the pads of the paws are pink; eyes are bright blue.

Qualities and behavior

The reggles, like the shutters, are born white, with the color fully manifesting only at the age of two. Cats of this breed are extremely susceptible to training, unusually smooth and playful. They live very well with other pets but can not defend themselves – they prefer to hide, although they are quite large (reaching 10 kg of weight).

For this reason, the protective functions of cats of this breed must be performed by their master. Their behavior should be monitored very carefully in order to detect possible signs of illness in time.
